Received Scale Grade AA and Overall Grade A
Hansae Co., Ltd. announced on the 12th that it has received the highest AA rating in the '2023 Second Half ESG Evaluation' conducted by Sustainvest, a domestic ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) evaluation and analysis institution.
Sustainvest publishes ESG management level evaluation results annually for about 1,000 listed companies. This year, evaluations were conducted for a total of 1,270 companies, including 755 listed on the KOSPI market, 310 on the KOSDAQ market, and 205 unlisted companies. Hansae Co., Ltd. received the highest AA rating in the scale category, which classifies companies by asset size, and an A rating in the overall category, which evaluates companies based on absolute criteria regardless of size.
Hansae Co., Ltd. is striving to reduce unnecessary waste throughout the entire garment production process and maximize resource use efficiency. To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the company has established four mid- to long-term goals: 'improving equipment efficiency and productivity,' 'introducing renewable energy and installing rooftop solar panels,' 'purchasing REC (Renewable Energy Certificates),' and 'transitioning to electric vehicles,' thereby reducing carbon emissions. Since 2019, through the 10% for Good initiative, Hansae has supported various NGOs and tech venture companies worldwide in the environmental and fashion sectors. In 2021, it signed a business agreement with Recover, a Spanish recycled fiber production company, taking the first step toward building a circular economy in the fashion industry. In fact, last year, Hansae reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 2.8% and petroleum usage by 18% compared to 2021, based on its overseas sewing factories. The company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25%, petroleum usage by 50%, and electricity purchases by 5% by 2029 compared to 2019.
Additionally, the Compliance Team manages human rights risks at overseas subsidiaries and partner companies. Eight training programs, including labor law, are provided to employees at overseas workplaces. In 2022, a total of 70,345 overseas employees participated in training, completing a total of 670,440 hours of education.
Hansae Co., Ltd. also has a high proportion of female executives. As of the end of 2022, the proportion of female workers at Hansae was 64%, and female managers accounted for 54% of all managers (based on domestic workplaces). The proportion of female managers at overseas subsidiaries was 65% at the Vietnam subsidiary, 60% at the Indonesia subsidiary, 80% at the Myanmar subsidiary, and 33% at the Nicaragua subsidiary.
