PCC, Public Recruitment for 2 Prosecutors and 2 Grade 6 Investigators

The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (HGOIA) is recruiting 2 ordinary prosecutors and 2 level 6 investigators.


On the 12th, HGOIA announced that although there is currently one vacancy each for prosecutors and investigators, since one prosecutor and one investigator are undergoing retirement procedures, they will hold additional recruitment for 2 positions each, including the expected vacancies.

According to the HGOIA Act, the number of prosecutors is limited to 25, including the chief and deputy chief. Currently, there are 24 prosecutors, and one is in the process of retirement. For investigators, the HGOIA Act sets the quota at 40, with 39 currently employed and one undergoing honorary retirement procedures.


The recruitment announcement can be found on the HGOIA website and the Nara Ilteo job portal, and applications can only be submitted online through a specialized internet application site.


Applications for prosecutors will be accepted for 13 days from the 18th to the 27th, and for investigators for 8 days from the 18th to the 25th.


Ordinary prosecutors must have held a lawyer's license for at least 7 years as of the public recruitment announcement date, making those who passed the 5th Bar Examination or later eligible to apply. Applicants with more than 3 years of investigative experience at investigative agencies, including military prosecution, will receive preferential treatment in the document screening.


After the application period ends, document screening and interviews will be conducted sequentially starting from January next year, and the president will make the final appointment following the recommendation process by the personnel committee.


According to the HGOIA Act, the term of office for HGOIA prosecutors is 3 years, renewable up to 3 times, allowing a maximum of 12 years of service. The mandatory retirement age is 63.


For investigators, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: hold a lawyer's license; be a level 6 (or equivalent) public official with experience in investigative or investigative office rule-defined investigative duties; or have more than 7 years of experience performing investigative duties as defined by investigative office rules.


The recruitment process proceeds in the order of announcement and application, document screening, and interviews. The term of office is 6 years, renewable, with a mandatory retirement age of 60.
