Direct presentation and awarding of market awards, government awards, and Export Tower to a total of 171 Busan export companies

Busan City is preparing a gathering to encourage Busan export companies that have struggled amid difficult domestic and international conditions.

'2023 Busan Trade Day' Event Held Busan City Hall.

On the 12th at 4 p.m., Busan City will hold the festival for Busan exporters, the '2023 Busan Trade Day' event, at The Westin Josun Busan.

About 240 people, including Mayor Park Hyung-joon, Lee Nam-gyu, chairman of the Busan Business Association, company representatives, and related export organizations, are expected to attend.

Due to challenging external conditions such as the global high-interest rate trend, economic recession, protectionism, supply chain disruptions, and regional conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine situation, Busan showed a decline in export performance and trade balance compared to the previous year, similar to major manufacturing countries like China and Japan.

However, the export decline rate was 7.4%, relatively better than the national export decline rate of 10%. To alleviate difficulties faced by regional export companies, the city implemented support measures such as the Export-Import Difficulty SME Voucher (230 million KRW), SME Export Insurance Premium Support (600 million KRW), and SME Export Guarantee Fee Support (200 million KRW).

At this event, Mayor Park Hyung-joon will personally present government and market awards to 171 exporters who have contributed to revitalizing Busan's exports, and through his congratulatory speech, he plans to boost the morale of Busan exporters and promote an atmosphere encouraging exports.

Government awards will be given to 48 exporters who contributed to expanding the export base.

Among them, the highest honor, the Geuptap Industrial Medal, will be awarded to CEO Yoon Jong-chan of BMT located in Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun. BMT has contributed to export promotion by exporting parts applied to domestic and overseas semiconductor factories and equipment, shipbuilding, offshore plants, petrochemicals, and power generation, with annual exports exceeding approximately 5 million USD.

Additionally, the Export Tower (government award) will be presented to 109 exporters who discovered new export engines and pioneered new markets.

To encourage exporters who contributed to achieving export performance this year, 14 trade merit recipients will receive the Busan Mayor’s Award.

Mayor Park Hyung-joon expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank the businesspeople who vigorously led Busan’s economic development amid this year’s unusually unstable global situation and economic downturn.” He added, “Our city will create an international free business zone in Busan where comprehensive regulatory innovation and tax reductions are applied, making Busan a city that functions as a global hub. We ask for the business community’s great interest and support.”
