This meeting included awards for outstanding partners, progress on the 100-day campaign to create a safe workplace, support achievements for partner companies, and support plans for 2024. Plaques were also awarded to one top excellent company and two excellent companies based on the safety and health evaluation results.
Following this, government safety and health experts such as Ahn Gyun-seop, Head of the Construction Industrial Accident Guidance Division at the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office, and Ko Gwang-jae, Head of the Seoul Metropolitan Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, were invited to give lectures on the roles and responsibilities of management.
In particular, considering the reality that the number of foreign workers at construction sites is increasing every year, HJ Heavy Industries independently produced and distributed free of charge the 'OPS' (One Point Sheet) handbook for accident prevention and safety and health for foreign workers to partner companies.
This handbook is a translation of the 140-page portable safety and health guideline material previously used by Korean employees into Chinese, Vietnamese, and Uzbek, languages spoken by many foreign workers.
HJ Heavy Industries has been continuously strengthening safety and health through communication between primary contractors and subcontractor management by holding this additional second half meeting following the first half meeting held in May this year.
In fact, HJ Heavy Industries received the highest grade again in 2023 in the ‘Mutual Cooperation Evaluation among Construction Operators’ announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in July, and in November, it was recognized for its achievements by winning the Grand Prize at the ‘2023 Construction Cooperation Promotion Awards’ hosted by the Construction Outsourcing Council.
At the meeting, Hong Moon-gi, Head of the Construction Division, said, “It was possible to be on the verge of achieving zero major accidents for four consecutive years, which is rare for a large construction company, thanks to the win-win efforts with partner companies,” and added, “We will continue to prioritize safety, health, and quality as the top management values and leap forward as an advanced safety and health company.”
