Hirokazu Koreeda's 'Monster' Lead Boys Visit Korea

The two main actors of Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda's film 'Monster' are visiting Seoul.


According to the distributor Media Castle on the 11th, Soya Kurokawa (13), who plays Minato in 'Monster,' and Hinata Hiiragi (11), who plays Yori, will visit Korea on the 20th and 21st.

'Monster,' which was released domestically on the 29th of last month, surpassed 200,000 cumulative viewers in just 12 days, marking the highest box office record for a Japanese film by director Hirokazu Koreeda. To commemorate this, they plan to visit Korea next week for a 2-day, 1-night schedule and express their gratitude by meeting with domestic media outlets.


Soya Kurokawa made his film debut with 'Monster,' and Hinata Hiiragi has been actively involved in Japanese dramas and performances.


'Monster' is a film that depicts a story where a mother, sensing something strange in her son's drastically changed behavior, visits his school and everyone involved in the mysterious incident experiences an emotional whirlwind. The film won the Best Screenplay award at this year's Cannes Film Festival.


Directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, who also directed films such as 'Our Little Sister' (2015), 'Shoplifters' (2018), and 'Broker' (2022), the film features a collaboration between screenwriter Yuji Sakamoto and the late music director Ryuichi Sakamoto.
