Muan Police, Year-End and New Year Special Crackdown on Drunk Driving

Collaboration with Security Partners... Promoting Traffic Accident Prevention

The Muan Police Station in Jeonnam (Chief Kim Jeong-wan) is promoting a 'Special Crackdown on Drunk Driving' to create an atmosphere of eradicating drunk driving ahead of the year-end and New Year holidays.

According to Muan Police on the 11th, although drunk driving accidents have been decreasing due to focused crackdowns on drunk driving and school zones since the beginning of the year, drunk driving accidents are still occurring, prompting the special crackdown.

The year-end and New Year drunk driving crackdown will continue for about two months from the 1st of this month until January 31 of next year. The crackdown will focus on high-risk drunk driving areas such as entertainment districts and shopping areas, deploying mobile units and collaborating with local and branch police stations to conduct spot checks frequently, day and night, by region.

Additionally, with the recent increase in traffic fatalities, enforcement of major traffic violations such as crossing the center line and not wearing seat belts will be conducted to establish a proper traffic culture and promote public order in daily life.

Chief Kim Jeong-wan stated, "We will strengthen cooperation with security partners and advance participatory traffic security collaboration by conducting multifaceted education and publicity activities and intensifying crackdowns to take the lead in making Muan safe from traffic fatalities."
