Kim Min-seok: "Lee Nak-yeon's New Party Is Neither 'Imitating Lee Jun-seok' Nor Nak-Jun Alliance, But Nak-Seok Alliance"

"I Nak-yeon New Party Will Not Win a Single Seat Nationwide"

Former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon has been expressing his determination to form a new party day after day, while Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Min-seok, who criticized on social media (SNS) saying, "If you dream of a new party, go ahead and do it," raised his voice of criticism, saying, "If you are in that position, it is right to leave and form a new party."

On the 11th, Kim said on CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "Delaying like this is not only imitating former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok but also a very bad old-fashioned politics."

As former leader Lee Nak-yeon continues to hint at founding a new party, reports have emerged that 'practical preparations for the new party's establishment are underway,' and Lee Nak-yeon himself has not denied this. However, Kim pointed out that this is essentially a refusal to accept the primary election results. He said, "'He is neither Yoon Seok-youl nor Lee Jae-myung' (but Lee Nak-yeon) lost the primary to Lee Jae-myung, didn't he?" adding, "Then, at least as someone who lost the primary, he should not be saying this. This is just a de facto refusal to accept the primary results."

He also criticized, saying, "It makes me curious about the identity of politician Lee Nak-yeon; it seems like self-confusion," and added, "He has been a member of the Democratic Party, but now he says he must form a third force that is neither the Democratic Party nor the People Power Party. What was the point of having served as prime minister and party leader? It really makes me bewildered by this self-confusion."

Kim explained the reason for his criticism by saying, "In South Korea, since the Minhan Party during the Chun Doo-hwan and Roh Tae-woo era, through Ahn Cheol-soo and Sohn Hak-kyu, there has been a so-called 'Sakura (spy)' line different from the traditional opposition party, but it has never succeeded," and added, "There is a concern that former leader Lee Nak-yeon might follow this Sakura line that has failed since the Minhan Party era, so I think it is better to clearly point this out early on."

Regarding the prospect that the so-called 'Nak-Jun alliance' between former leaders Lee Nak-yeon and Lee Jun-seok could empower the third zone, he said, "In my view, it seems more like a Nak-Seok alliance than a Nak-Jun alliance," and "since former leader Lee Jun-seok cannot be seen as having conducted excellent politics for national unity, such temporary coalitions that usually form around general elections cannot be regarded as a stable alternative for the development of Korean politics."

He also pointed out that even if the 'Lee Nak-yeon new party' is formed, it would not win a single seat nationwide. He said, "In the end, I think it is about expecting some vote splitting in the metropolitan area and Honam, for example, but it will not win a single seat nationwide, including the metropolitan area and Honam."
