'Sudogyeongbi Saryeongbu' Filming Also at Hannam University College of Education, Kyungpook National University, Chosun University, and Cheongnamdae
The movie 'Seoul Spring' is drawing attention to its filming locations as it surpasses 6 million cumulative viewers and continues its successful run at the box office.
According to Hannam University in Daejeon, major scenes of 'Seoul Spring' were filmed across various locations on the Hannam University campus in March of last year.
In this film, which is based on the December 12, 1979 military coup, Hannam University's College of Education was used as the 'Capital Security Command,' and the Talmage Memorial Hall served as the 'Special Forces Command.' Notably, actor Jung Woo-sung, who plays Lieutenant General Lee Tae-shin, the commander of the Capital Security Command and one of the main characters, posted a 'selfie' on social media on the 2nd, taken on the College of Education lawn with the Hannam University main building in the background, bringing renewed attention to Hannam University as a filming location.

Since 2006, starting with 'That Summer' (starring Lee Byung-hun and Su-ae), Hannam University has been a popular filming spot for over 15 movies and dramas.
At the Hannam University Missionary Village, designated as a cultural asset by Daejeon City, films such as 'The Last Princess' (2016), 'Memoir of a Murderer' (2017), 'Honest Candidate' (2020), and the drama 'Mother' (2018) were shot. The movie 'Bogota' (unreleased), starring Song Joong-ki, was also filmed here.
Additionally, the outdoor concert scene of the movie 'C'est Si Bon' (2015) was filmed on the College of Education lawn, and the film 'Air Murder' (2022), inspired by the humidifier disinfectant incident, was shot at the 56th Anniversary Memorial Hall and the Central Library. The Hannam University Grand Stadium was used for 'Korea' (2012), the Student Union Building for 'The Attorney' (2013), and the Gyeui-don Memorial Hall for '1987' (2017).
Recent productions filmed at Hannam University include the movies 'The Moon' (2023) and 'Starlight Falls' (unreleased), as well as the dramas 'Vigilante' (2023) and 'The Good Detective 2' (2022).
Meanwhile, 'Seoul Spring' was also filmed at other universities such as Kyungpook National University in Daegu and Chosun University in Gwangju, in addition to Hannam University. The Kyungpook National University main building was used as the Army Headquarters in the film. A scene where Lee Tae-shin and Jeon Du-kwang confront each other was filmed in the hallway of Chosun University’s main building, and the university’s underground shelter was used as the B2 bunker of the Army Headquarters in the movie.
The shooting of the gunfight scene took place at Cheongnamdae. Cheongnamdae, a villa where former presidents used to vacation, was opened to the public during President Roh Moo-hyun’s administration in 2003, and after management was transferred to Chungbuk Province, over 70 video productions have been made using this location. Particularly, Cheongnamdae, built in 1983 during the presidency of Chun Doo-hwan, is regarded as an ideal filming location for movies reflecting that era.
