Jangseong-gun, Jeonnam Holds 'Anpyeong Rice' Tasting Event Inviting Consumers

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do held a tasting event for ‘Anpyeong Rice’ at the Jangseong Local Food Advanced Direct Store on the 8th. Kim Han-jong, the governor of Jangseong-gun, members of the Jangseong-gun Council, officials from the Nonghyup, and consumer groups participated.

‘Anpyeong,’ developed by the Rural Development Administration, is sweeter and stickier than regular rice, making it highly preferred. It was selected as the highest quality rice in 2020, guaranteeing excellent taste.

Previously, Jangseong-gun took the lead in Jeollanam-do by launching a pilot cultivation project, creating a 18.5ha (hectare) scale complex. Cultivation was handled by the Global Jangseong Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, while the Jangseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center supported farmers with cultivation technique education and expert consultations.

The tasting event was organized to confirm consumer responses and expert evaluations of Jangseong Anpyeong Rice. In this rice taste evaluation, which consisted of five categories including appearance and satisfaction, the rice sufficiently met the standards, proving once again that it is an excellent variety.

Baek Soon-ho, CEO of Global Jangseong Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, who cultivated Anpyeong Rice, said, “Since we received good evaluations at the consumer and expert tasting event, we will take pride and focus on producing high-quality rice.”

Kim Han-jong, governor of Jangseong-gun, stated, “We will carefully manage the entire process from cultivation to distribution so that Anpyeong Rice, introduced as the first pilot cultivation in Jeollanam-do, can receive much love from consumers.”
