The Royal Couple, Compared with Splendid Coronation Photos
"These Two Photos... Show the Present and Future of Monarchy"
The Christmas cards of King Charles III and Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, along with the royal family of Prince William, have been revealed. The family photos, each with a different atmosphere, caught attention.
In the family photo released on the 9th (local time) by Kensington Palace, Prince William, second in line to the throne, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, are seen smiling naturally, dressed in white shirts without ties and jeans, along with their three children.

With the couple standing at the back, their second child, Princess Charlotte (8), is seated in the center of the front row with her hair down, flanked by their youngest, Prince Louis (5), and eldest son, Prince George (10). Prince George is wearing a Ralph Lauren shirt, a brand reportedly favored by his late grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and suede boots, with his hands in his pockets. These three siblings are third, fourth, and fifth in line to the throne, respectively, by age.
On this day, the British daily The Telegraph reported that the photo of the Prince of Wales's family was taken by photographer Josh Siney, who has mainly worked for fashion magazines such as Vogue and Esquire. This was Siney’s first time photographing a member of the British royal family, and Kensington Palace explained, "The Prince and Duchess saw Josh’s work and wanted him to create a memorable family photo."
Prince William chose not to send paper cards to protect the environment. Instead of paper cards, they sent digital cards to family, friends, and charities.

On the other hand, King Charles and Queen Consort, who ascended the throne this year, posed in a solemn and traditional atmosphere, wearing splendid coronation attire. This photo was taken by veteran photographer Hugo Burnand, who has worked with the British royal family for decades, at Buckingham Palace shortly after the coronation in May.
The Telegraph evaluated that the two royal family photos, with contrasting atmospheres, symbolically represent the present and future of the monarchy.
The British royal Christmas cards are sent to hundreds of recipients, including royal family members, friends, supporters, Commonwealth countries, and diplomats stationed overseas.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have separated from the British royal family, did not release a Christmas family photo. The couple has a son named Archie.
