On the 23rd at Seoul Arts Center IBK Chamber Hall
Part 1: Chamber Music · Part 2: Jazz Program Performance
Han Ji-hee, flutist and wife of Shinsegae Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin, is holding a solo recital.
According to the concert planning company Join Classic on the 10th, the 'Han Ji-hee Flute Solo Recital' will be held on the 23rd at 2 p.m. at the IBK Chamber Hall of the Seoul Arts Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The recital will be conducted in two parts: the first part in a chamber music format, and the second part featuring jazz arrangements centered on the flute. Ticket prices are uniformly 100,000 KRW for all seats.
The first part begins with Bach's cantata (BWV 147) "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," followed by the flute concerto in D minor by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Bach's second son. In the second part, the repertoire includes Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker," John Newton's "Amazing Grace," and Irving Berlin's "White Christmas," which are representative pieces for the year-end season.
The performance will feature violinist Kim Deok-woo, cellist Moon Tae-guk, pianist Moon Jung-jae, flutist Cho Sung-hyun, and drummer Shin Dong-jin.
Han Ji-hee graduated from the preparatory school of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in Austria and studied at the Conservatoire de Boulogne in Paris. She then completed her bachelor's degree at Oberlin Conservatory of Music in the United States. Additionally, she pursued a professional performer course at Musashino Academia Musicae in Japan, where she studied under Professor Kai, a leading figure in the Japanese flute community.
In Korea, she earned a master's degree from Ewha Womans University and a doctorate from Seoul National University Graduate School of Music. She is currently active as a member of the chamber ensemble PACE. PACE stands for "Pro Arte Chamber Ensemble," meaning a group of young musicians with top-level skills. Based on classical music, they boldly transcend genres such as contemporary music, creative music, jazz, and crossover. As the word "PACE" suggests, positioned on the boundary between tradition and innovation, the group is a multi-member team that pursues bold and somewhat experimental performances in tune with the current pace.
Han Ji-hee held a private wedding ceremony with Chung Yong-jin at the Chosun Hotel in May 2011 and gave birth to fraternal twins in 2013.
Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin is known to frequently attend his wife Han Ji-hee's performances and plans to watch this upcoming recital as well.
On March 26, Vice Chairman Chung posted a photo on his Instagram with the caption "Went to my wife's recital" after attending the chamber ensemble PACE's performance.
