Actor Lee Jang-woo from Seokchon-dong Treats 300 Elderly in Songpa-gu to a Meal

Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) held a free meal-sharing event on the 8th at a restaurant in Seokchon-dong with actor Lee Jang-woo, who appeared on the entertainment program 'I Live Alone,' to support low-income elderly living alone and senior citizens at community centers in the village ahead of the year-end and New Year holidays.

This sharing event was organized as part of the representative winter neighbor-helping project, 'Warm Winter.' Actor Lee Jang-woo, who was born and raised in Seokchon-dong, prepared the event together with the district office to serve a total of 300 meals to local senior citizens.

Despite the cold weather on the day, the restaurant in Seokchon-dong where the event was held was bustling with crowds coming for lunch. Village elders, including low-income seniors living alone or in difficult circumstances and senior citizens at community centers, gathered together to share warm sundae gukbap (Korean blood sausage soup) and refreshments, enjoying a friendly and warm mealtime.

In particular, Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, also attended the event to encourage the elderly, drawing attention. Before the meal, Mayor Seo Gang-seok and actor Lee Jang-woo conveyed greetings wishing for the health and well-being of the seated elders, who responded with words of gratitude, sharing a warm sense of community among neighbors.

Since the launch of the 8th term of the civil administration last year, the district has prioritized support for marginalized groups and emphasized care for socially vulnerable people above all else. Earlier this year, the district established the 'Low-Income Elderly Living Alone Living Assistance Allowance,' providing a monthly living assistance allowance of 70,000 KRW to legally designated low-income elderly living alone, practicing support for the socially vulnerable and neighborly love.

Mayor Seo Gang-seok said, “This event was prepared to offer a bowl of sundae gukbap filled with heart and sincerity to our local elders as the year-end approaches,” adding, “We will take the lead in spreading a culture of neighborly sharing so that no one is left out and devote ourselves to creating an inclusive city Songpa where everyone is embraced.”
