Professor Shin Dong-yoon of the Department of Nano Convergence Engineering at Pukyong National University was selected as a contributor to the development of the flexible printed electronics industry in 2023 and received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Professor Shin was awarded at the 11th Printed Electronics Day event held on the 5th at EL Tower in Seoul for his contributions to the advancement of the flexible printed electronics industry.

Since 2006, Professor Shin Dong-yoon has been recognized for his significant contributions to the development of the related industry through research achievements and nurturing outstanding talent, having registered 58 domestic patents and 4 overseas patents related to printed electronics processes and equipment while serving as a senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials' Printed Electronics Research Lab and, since 2011, as a faculty member of the Department of Nano Convergence Engineering at Pukyong National University.
He has worked on research for inkjet-based displays and the manufacturing of high-efficiency solar cells and photovoltaic modules using printing technology, contributing to the development of the domestic display and solar energy industries. He has also made efforts for win-win cooperation by providing free technical support and consulting activities to large, medium, and small enterprises in the printed electronics field.
In addition, he has been active as a member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) working group on printed electronics, a member of the National Institute of Technology and Standards' printed electronics expert committee, an evaluation committee member for government-supported technology development projects at various institutions such as the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute, vice chairman of the International Cooperation Committee of the Korean Society of Flexible Printed Electronics, vice president of the Korean Solar Energy Society, and president of the Micro/Nano Engineering Division of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Prior to this ministerial commendation, Professor Shin Dong-yoon had previously received the Minister of Education, Science and Technology Commendation in 2011 and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Commendation in 2015, adding to his honors.
