Rep. Taeyongho of the People Power Party asserted on the 8th, "Former President Moon Jae-in should apologize to the son of the public official who was shot in the West Sea."

On the same day, Rep. Tae stated through social media (SNS), "Yesterday, the Board of Audit and Inspection's investigation into the West Sea public official shooting incident revealed that the Moon administration systematically labeled the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries official, who was killed by North Korean forces, as having defected to the North in order to cover up their mistakes."

He continued, "However, yesterday, the Democratic Party of Korea, despite the audit report being filled with clear evidence, failed to present any grounds to refute it and instead only criticized it by calling the Board of Audit and Inspection a 'prosecutorial agency' and accusing it of 'North wind propaganda and pro-North labeling.' The Democratic Party, as the ruling party alongside the Moon administration, not only failed in their most important duty to protect the lives of the people but also committed character assassination. Yet, instead of apologizing to the bereaved families for labeling the victim as a defector, they shamelessly attempted to divert attention by framing it as an issue for the general election," he criticized.

Rep. Tae claimed, "Former President Moon also received a letter from the son of the public official shot at the time, appealing for justice, and replied, writing, 'I will personally oversee the entire process transparently and ensure the truth is revealed.' However, throughout the Moon administration, the truth was buried in darkness, and the bereaved family had to live painfully under the disgrace of being labeled as a defector's family."

He added, "The audit results indicate that it would have been impossible for the government agencies under the Moon administration to unanimously label one person as a defector without the instruction or approval of the highest authority, President Moon. Former President Moon should not hide behind the protection of the majority Democratic Party but should now reveal all the truths he promised to the public official's son and sincerely apologize to the bereaved family," he said.

The West Sea public official shooting incident refers to the case on September 22, 2020, when Lee Dae-jun, a fisheries guidance official belonging to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, went missing near Yeonpyeong Island in the West Sea, was killed by North Korean forces, and his body was burned at sea.

The day before, the Board of Audit and Inspection announced the final audit results stating that the previous Moon Jae-in administration neglected the situation at the time of the incident and subsequently concealed and distorted related facts.
