Changwon Special City Discusses Measures to Prevent and Support Victims of Jeonse Fraud

Held a Meeting with the Head of Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation Headquarters

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam recently conducted an on-site inspection and held a meeting with Yoon Myung-kyu, Head of Asset Management at the Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), and Lee Yong-seung, Head of the Jeonse Damage Support Center, who visited Jinhae District Office to encourage the ‘Visiting Jeonse Fraud Damage Support Counseling Center.’

The ‘Visiting Jeonse Fraud Damage Support Counseling Center,’ operated under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, has set up counseling centers at Masanhappo District Office starting November 27, followed by Uichang District Office and Jinhae District Office. Lawyers, judicial scriveners, HUG staff, psychological counselors, and Changwon City officials provide legal, psychological, financial, and housing support counseling.

At the meeting, Moon Sang-sik, Director of Urban Policy, stated, “Changwon Special City was the first nationwide in 2019 to launch a support project for Jeonse deposit return guarantee fees and has promoted various projects to prevent and support Jeonse fraud damage, contributing to the prevention of Jeonse fraud.” He added, “We will continue to maintain a cooperative relationship with HUG to jointly promote the prevention of Jeonse damage and support the daily recovery of Jeonse victims.”

In response, Director Yoon said, “We strongly agree with Changwon Special City’s advanced policies for preventing Jeonse fraud, and HUG will continue to provide support for Jeonse victims regarding legal actions, auction procedures, and financial matters even after the counseling period.” He added, “We will actively cooperate with Changwon Special City in preventing Jeonse damage and supporting Jeonse victims.”
