Seoul City Opens Seoul Plaza Skating Rink on 23rd... Guro-gu Opens Anyangcheon Children's Skating Rink on 22nd

A skating rink will open on the 23rd at Seoul Plaza in front of Seoul City Hall.

Also, autonomous districts in Seoul such as Guro-gu and Nowon-gu are rushing to open children's skating rinks where kids can enjoy skating excitedly.

It is known that Seoul City will open the skating rink at Seoul Plaza on the 23rd. Every winter, the city opens the skating rink at Seoul Plaza and operates it for about a month.

This Seoul Plaza skating rink was also prepared with sponsorship from Shinhan Bank, the Seoul city treasury, among others.

Seoul's autonomous districts are also preparing to open children's skating rinks.

◇Guro-gu, First Opening of Anyangcheon Children's Skating Rink on the 22nd

Guro-gu will open an outdoor skating rink, a popular winter sport, for the first time on the 22nd under Ogumgyo Bridge at Anyangcheon.

The district plans to close the snow sledding site that operated for the past six years and invest about 580 million won of district funds to create an outdoor skating rink where children and their parents can enjoy together as a family.

The skating rink covers an area of 485 pyeong and consists of an ice rink and ice bumper cars, operating from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until February 11 next year.

The ice rink is available for both children and adults, with up to 150 people skating for 60 minutes per session. Admission is free, and users only need to pay 2,000 won for skate equipment rental.

The ice bumper cars are operated as a dedicated play facility for infants and children. Up to 10 people can enjoy bumper cars for 5 minutes per session, and the usage fee is 2,000 won.

Discounts of 50% are applied to eligible groups such as national veterans, registered disabled persons, basic livelihood security recipients, legally single-parent families, low-income families, and large families, allowing them to use the ice rink and ice bumper cars for 1,000 won.

The district is accelerating preparations as this is the first opening. As auxiliary facilities, a snack shop will be placed, along with a lounge, storage room, medical room, and portable toilets.

For residents' comfortable visits, parking will be arranged using the Anyangcheon multipurpose plaza, and parking fees will be free.

◇Nowon-gu, Opening of Snow Sledding Site at Korea University of Science and Technology Playground

Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) has prepared a snow sledding site at the Korea University of Science and Technology playground this year and will operate it for one month starting January 1.

Until last year, Nowon-gu operated snow sledding sites (for adults and infants) along Jungnangcheon Stream, but from this year, it will operate a skating rink, snow play park, snack shop, rest area, experience space, and icefish catching at the Korea University of Science and Technology playground.
