Pukyong National University, Artificial Intelligence and Future Convergence Technology Workshop

Jointly by the Korea Multimedia Society, 5 Leading Scholars in AI Field Give Lectures

National Pukyong University (President Jang Young-su) jointly hosted the ‘5th Artificial Intelligence and Future Convergence Technology Workshop’ with the Korea Multimedia Society (President Kim Hyun-ki).


Held online in a non-face-to-face format on the 1st, this workshop was conducted under the theme ‘Innovative AI Technology leading to Future Society’ with invited lectures from five leading scholars in the field of artificial intelligence from academia, research institutes, and industry.


National Pukyong University operates the Graduate School of AI Convergence, selected for the BK21 project, and holds an annual AI workshop to expand the base of artificial intelligence.

This workshop is recognized as a platform for academic exchange that expands its scope and substance beyond regional limits to nationwide and overseas levels.


In the first part of the event, Professor Seo Young-joo, Dean of the AI Graduate School at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), gave a lecture titled ‘Trends in Generative AI Technology and the Future Created by Innovative Technology,’ followed by Professor Thurmon E. Lockhart from Arizona State University with a lecture on ‘Movement Complexity and Falls.’


In the second part, CEO Park Woe-jin of Acryl Co., Ltd. presented ‘The Era of Ultra-large Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Applications of LLM,’ followed by Director Min Kyung-wook of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) with ‘Autonomous Driving AI Software Technology,’ and Professor Lee Sang-wan of KAIST with ‘Artificial Intelligence Does Not Think Like the Brain.’


Kim Young-bong, Director of the AI Research Institute at National Pukyong University and chair of the workshop, said, “Through this workshop, we expect to confirm the current status of AI technology that will change the future and to create an opportunity to strengthen research and development capabilities in the AI field in the Busan region and to further expand AI application technologies linked with industry.”
