Dahamtge Dolbom Center is a facility established and operated by local governments to provide after-school care services aimed at eliminating blind spots in elementary school childcare. It offers services to elementary school students in need of care regardless of their parents' income level. Icheon City explained that the installation of Dahamtge Dolbom Centers within military bases is the first case nationwide.
Under this agreement, the city plans to prepare a 99㎡ care center for the Aviation Command and a 123㎡ center for the Special Warfare Command. The capacity for each facility is 20 and 25 people, respectively. The city will begin remodeling the centers this month, select a consignment company in January next year, and start operations in February next year.
The city has especially decided to fully support the costs required for installing the Dahamtge Dolbom Centers and also provide operating expenses.
Earlier, to install the centers, the city negotiated locations with the Aviation Command and Special Warfare Command starting in July and discussed legal procedures for site usage with the Ministry of National Defense.
Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, said, "In an era of low birth rates, childcare is no longer an individual issue but an important matter that the nation and local communities must address together," adding, "We will do our best to build various infrastructures and provide high-quality services to support child-rearing for children."
