Gangdong-gu Supports Cold Weather Vulnerable Groups with Winter Supplies

Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced that it held a "Cold Wave Vulnerable Group Safety Inspection Team Launch Ceremony" together with the Gangdong-Songpa Chapter of the Korea Thermal Management Construction Association (Chairman Yoo Young-bok) to support the safe winter season for neighbors in need.

At this launch ceremony, the public-private joint safety inspection team, composed of association members and district employees, pledged to create a warm and safe living environment for the cold wave vulnerable groups who do not have the leisure to check safety in daily life, and to carry out activities to prevent winter fire accidents.

The 25 members from the association and the district were divided into six teams and will support 88 vulnerable households, including basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, elderly living alone, and people with disabilities, by inspecting gas, boilers, and electricity, and providing cold weather supplies until the 15th.

The association will check for ▲gas leaks ▲boiler pipe connections and operating status ▲installation of gas timers, gas leak detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors, which require specialized technical skills.

The district will provide padded vests and other items to help the cold wave vulnerable groups spend a warm winter. In addition, the district will utilize electrical professionals within the district office to inspect indoor temperature controllers, circuit breakers, and replace old fluorescent lights and electrical outlets.

Lee Su-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "We will continue to provide support so that residents struggling with the cold can have a safe and warm winter," and added, "We will take extra care to ensure the safety of marginalized groups so they do not suffer due to the cold wave."
