Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok Meets Redevelopment Area Representatives and Jeonse Fraud Victims for 'Multiple Complaints Communication'

Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok met with representatives of redevelopment district residents and the Jeonse fraud damage countermeasure committee on the 7th to listen to civil complaints and exchange opinions.

Incheon City announced that Mayor Yoo held the sixth 'Mass Civil Complaints Communication Day' since his inauguration in the mayor's reception room. The Mass Civil Complaints Communication Day is a two-way communication channel where the mayor meets with resident representatives to hear opinions and consider practical solutions regarding numerous unresolved complaints or administrative suggestions that have persisted for a long time.

At the communication meeting, representatives from the Wooshin Redevelopment District, the Incheon Apartment Residents' Representatives Association, and officials from the Michuhol-gu Jeonse Fraud Damage Countermeasure Committee attended.

First, representatives of the Wooshin Redevelopment District (around 191-4 Ganseok-dong, Namdong-gu) stated, "Namdong-gu recommended this area as a candidate site for the 2nd round of redevelopment project preliminary review proposal contest in 2023 by Incheon City, but the opinions of all residents were not reflected," and requested the city to withdraw the candidate site recommendation.

Additionally, the Incheon Apartment Residents' Representatives Association proposed increasing the number of public officials managing apartment complexes in Incheon City, allowing attendance at meetings of committees related to apartment complexes to reflect opinions, and increasing support funds for the repair and maintenance of communal facilities in apartment complexes.

The Michuhol-gu Jeonse Fraud Damage Countermeasure Committee demanded the enactment of an Incheon City ordinance to support victims of Jeonse fraud, the provision of a lump-sum emergency support fund to victims, replacement of building management companies and support for building management, and measures for the 2024 main budget allocation.

In response, Mayor Yoo said, "We will review relevant laws and regulations regarding each request and consider practical solutions from various angles," adding, "We will continue to sincerely communicate with citizens through the Mass Civil Complaints Communication Day and strive to incorporate their opinions into city administration."

Meanwhile, Incheon City previously held two Mass Civil Complaints Communication Days this year and listened to citizens' voices on five issues: ▲ improvement of the bus fare system in Yeongjong International City ▲ expansion of the coverage of Incheon Citizen Safety Insurance ▲ improvement of the redevelopment project preliminary review proposal system ▲ land use policy proposals for the Seoul Metropolitan Landfill Site ▲ proposal for the creation of an alternative retention basin at Hakik Retention Basin.

Regarding this, the city stated that a new bus fare system has been established and is operating in Yeongjong City, and solutions for the remaining issues are being developed through continuous dialogue between the relevant departments and complainants.
