Message to employees on SNS LinkedIn
Including the phrase 'Don't miss the forest because of the trees'

Kyung Kye-hyun, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics DS Division (Semiconductor), urged employees at the end of the year to "take direct ownership of success beyond 2024."

On the 7th, through his social media (SNS) LinkedIn, President Kyung said, "The end of the year is a time to reflect not only on the success of the past 12 months but also on next year's goals," adding, "As CEO, I am thinking about balancing short-term goals such as increasing current sales with long-term goals like environmental sustainability."

He then mentioned the saying, "Don't miss the forest for the trees."

President Kyung emphasized, "This proverb contains wisdom, and employees should not stop asking themselves what all of this is for, even if they are too focused on the trivial parts of their daily work," adding, "I wonder how we can innovate in this way."

He continued, "Samsung Semiconductor is striving to ensure that all employees understand how their work meaningfully contributes to the company's success," and encouraged, "I want to recommend that every employee set their own five-year goals and then think backward to plan the milestones to be achieved each year."

He stated, "It is important that these goals are realistic yet ambitiously achievable," explaining, "Setting unrealistic goals inevitably leads to a negative vicious cycle that helps no one."

Finally, President Kyung said, "By taking a step-by-step approach to year-end goal setting, I hope every Samsung Semiconductor employee can feel direct ownership of success in 2024 and beyond," adding, "If you want to nurture the forest, the best way is to teach people how to plant acorns."
