Gyeonggi-do Operates 'Safe Accommodation' for Female Violence Victims

Gyeonggi-do Operates 'Safe Accommodation' for Female Violence Victims Gyeonggi Province signed a business agreement on the 7th with the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency and LH to support the safety of female victims.

Gyeonggi Province is operating a ‘Safe House’ to support the daily return of female victims of violence.

On the 7th, Gyeonggi Province signed a ‘Business Agreement for Safety Support for Female Victims of Violence’ with the Southern Gyeonggi Police Agency and LH Southern Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office.

This agreement was promoted in response to concerns that although the police currently operate temporary accommodations (lodging facilities) to separate and protect female victims of violence such as stalking, dating violence, and domestic violence, and to ensure their safety and prevent further harm, there is a need for measures that improve convenience so victims can regain psychological stability and maintain daily life activities such as work and child-rearing.

According to the agreement, LH Southern Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters will provide purchased rental housing equipped with basic security facilities as safe accommodations for female victims of violence. The competent police station will be responsible for selecting residents and managing the security and safety of the safe house. Gyeonggi Province will support operating costs such as rent and management fees, and provide integrated services for victims’ daily return, including counseling, psychological support, medical assistance, and legal aid.

Gyeonggi Province plans to expand the project throughout the province by signing a business agreement with the Northern Gyeonggi Police Agency and LH Northern Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters in the future.

Yoon Young-mi, Director of the Women and Family Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Through this agreement, we hope that the support of safe houses utilizing purchased rental housing will become an effective means of separated protection that is safe and improves living convenience for female victims of violence." She added, "We will actively collaborate with the partner organizations to provide social support for female victims of violence and to create a safe community."
