SK ecoplant, a leading domestic environment and energy company, carried out an organizational restructuring and executive appointments on the 7th of 2024.
Through this restructuring, SK ecoplant transformed its existing structure from 6 BUs (Business Units) and 4 centers to 3 BUs and 3 centers. This change aims to respond to uncertainties in the business environment by advancing the environment and energy businesses and focusing on delivering results.
First, the environment business, which had been divided into domestic, global, and R&D organizations, was reorganized into a single BU. By combining business development and marketing functions, the company plans to develop solution packages and strengthen integrated offerings to secure clients. The energy business will be integrated with the existing high-tech and solution businesses to enhance execution capabilities based on engineering expertise. The Space BU, responsible for the construction business, will maintain its existing structure.
Executive appointments were also made in line with the direction of the organizational restructuring.
To simultaneously secure business growth and financial stability with the goal of a successful initial public offering (IPO), a dual CEO system will be introduced. At the board meeting held on the 5th, SK ecoplant resolved to propose the agenda of newly appointing Donghyun Jang, Vice Chairman and CEO of SK, as an inside director at a special shareholders’ meeting.
Vice Chairman Jang Donghyun, who has led SK’s portfolio innovation and investments as CEO of SK after working at Yukong, the predecessor of SK Innovation, and SK Telecom, will strengthen top management through the dual CEO system. This will enhance the advancement of each business area expanded into environment, energy, and solutions, and improve communication with capital market stakeholders.
Aligned with its financial story, SK ecoplant is also promoting bold generational change and personnel renewal to nurture next-generation leaders. Generational change will be carried out centered on BU representatives and center heads, and new leaders with expertise in growth businesses will be strategically selected and developed.
