Jeonnam Muan-gun (Governor Kim San) announced on the 7th that it secured 3.2 billion KRW in special grants for the second half of 2023 on the 6th.

The total special grants secured by Muan-gun this year amount to 5.2 billion KRW, including 2 billion KRW from the first half, which is an increase of 1.2 billion KRW (28%) compared to last year.

Special grants are funds allocated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety based on applications from local governments to reflect changes in local financial conditions, disasters, and other unexpected financial demands.

The special grants for the second half of this year cover a total of seven projects, including △ Namak Central Park complex playground facility (water play area) construction project (800 million KRW) △ Muan-gun National Sports Center facility renovation project (400 million KRW) △ (Former) Muan High School gymnasium facility improvement project (300 million KRW) △ small stream maintenance project (1.2 billion KRW) △ collapse slope restoration work in Dasan-ri and Isan-ri, Mongtan-myeon (300 million KRW), among others.

The Namak Central Park complex playground facility construction project aims to create an eco-friendly complex playground facility usable throughout all seasons, providing a new healing space for residents of Namak and Oryong New Towns, where half of the local population resides.

Additionally, through the renovation of the Muan-gun National Sports Center (Sports Park) and the improvement of the (former) Muan High School gymnasium facilities, sports spaces for sports enthusiasts and residents will be secured, which is expected to contribute to the health promotion of the county residents.

Governor Kim San stated, “With the active cooperation of Seo Sam-seok, the local member of the National Assembly and Budget and Accounts Committee chairman, we secured special grants that increased by 28% compared to the previous year. Due to an 18% decrease in local allocation tax, we were unable to address some pending and disaster-related projects, but we will do our best to promptly implement these projects with the secured budget for the convenience and safety of residents.”
