[Report] "A Space You Want to Stay In"... 6th Apple Store 'Apple Hanam'

On the 7th, Apple gave the media an exclusive preview of its 6th Apple Store in Korea, 'Apple Hanam,' located in Starfield Hanam. The official opening is scheduled for the 9th. This is Apple's first time opening an Apple Store outside of Seoul.

Since launching 'Apple Garosugil' in January 2018, Apple has been operating five Apple Stores in Seoul. It is also known to be preparing a new store near Hongdae Entrance in Mapo-gu.

Upon entering the store, journalists were greeted by tables displaying all of Apple's products and accessories, including the iPhone 15 lineup, as well as the 'Avenue Bay.' Apple explained that the store was newly designed with an open space to provide a personalized shopping experience.

Apple particularly emphasized the store’s eco-friendly design. The flooring is made from plant-based materials, and an improved ceiling air circulation system has been installed. The exterior walls are constructed with wooden frames. This nature-friendly concept is unique to Apple Hanam.

Another notable feature is the furniture arranged for socially vulnerable groups. There are tables and chairs of various heights so customers can either sit or stand while communicating with staff. The store layout also facilitates easy movement for wheelchair users to browse Apple products comfortably inside the store.

Additionally, a portable hearing loop is available for use anywhere in the store. The hearing loop is a wireless transmission device that helps people with hearing impairments, including those with hearing aids or cochlear implants, and elderly customers, to clearly hear guidance announcements without being disturbed by surrounding noise.

Another distinctive feature of Apple Hanam is the separately designated 'Genius Bar' that functions as an A/S center. This space is reorganized for face-to-face consultations with staff for repairs and technical or hardware support. Although Genius Bars have been operated in all Apple Stores in Korea, repair consultations were previously conducted at general tables without a separate space.

Apple Hanam also includes an Apple Pickup Station, one of the most preferred places by customers during the year-end and New Year shopping season. Customers can place orders online and conveniently visit the store at their preferred time to pick up their products immediately.

About 80 employees will work at Apple Hanam. Among them are staff with experience working at Apple Stores in other countries. They can speak various languages including Korean, Chinese, Japanese, French, and English. Additionally, there are employees from Hanam who have a deep understanding of the local community.
