The maritime police dispatched pollution control vessels and patrol ships to the scene, confirmed a rainbow-colored thin oil film in one area (30m×1km), and carried out emergency pollution control measures such as dispersing the marine pollution using propellers and bilge pumps.
In addition, through patrols near the accident area (Gatbawi to Peace Plaza), they checked the distribution status of pollution sources such as moored vessels and coastal pollution sources, completing the pollution control work over about two hours.
A Mokpo Maritime Police official said, “We will respond more quickly to marine pollution accidents to keep the sea clean.”
