'Geomi Jip' Wins 4 Awards Including Best Director and Best Cinematography
The Korean Film Producers Association announced on the 7th that director Jeong Ju-ri's "Next Sohee" has been selected for the Korean Film Producers Association Award for Best Film. The film was highly praised for its portrayal of the sad self-portrait of capitalist society. The association explained, "It deeply addressed the structural forms and chronic behaviors of society as a whole, where other Sohees are inevitably bound to follow."
Director Kim Ji-woon’s "Spiderweb" received four trophies, including Best Director, Best Cinematography (Kim Ji-yong), Best Art Direction (Jung Yi-jin), and Best Music (Mog). The Best Screenplay award went to writer Hyun Gyu-ri and director Ahn Tae-jin for "Owl." "Owl" also took home awards for Best Editing (Kim Sun-min) and Best Sound (Park Yong-gi).
The Best Actor and Actress awards were given to Kang Ha-neul for "30 Days" and Jung Yu-mi for "Sleep," respectively, while the Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards went to Kim Jong-soo and Go Min-si for "Smuggling." The Best New Director award was presented to Yoo Jae-sun for "Sleep," and the Best New Actor award went to Kim Si-eun for "Next Sohee." Director Jeong Ji-young, celebrating his 40th anniversary since debut this year, received a Special Achievement Award. The awards ceremony will be held privately on the 15th at the Paju Myeong Film Art Center.
