On the 7th, the prosecution launched a forced investigation into Daeyu Winia Group on charges of withholding workers' wages and severance pay.
The Criminal Division 1 of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office Seongnam Branch (Chief Prosecutor Heo Hoon) sent prosecutors and investigators to Daeyu Winia's office building in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and the R&D center in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, to secure related materials. It is also known that the residence of Group Chairman Park Young-yoo was included in this search and seizure. The charges applied include violations of the Labor Standards Act.
The prosecution reportedly conducted the search and seizure on this day as part of efforts to expand the investigation to the higher-ups of Park Hyun-chul, CEO of Winia Electronics, who is on trial for withholding hundreds of billions of won in wages and severance pay. Park was indicted on charges of violating the Labor Standards Act, including withholding about 30.2 billion won in wages and severance pay for 393 workers from early May last year, when he took office, until last August.
Earlier, during the trial on charges including violations of the Labor Standards Act against CEO Park, the prosecution requested the court to deny his bail petition, stating, "Additional investigations are underway regarding Chairman Park Young-yoo of Daeyu Winia Group in connection with the case of withheld wages and other matters."
