Professor Seowon Cheol of the Department of Industrial Management Engineering at Pukyong National University received the Best Paper Award from the Korea Intellectual Property Research Institute (President Son Seung-woo).
Professor Seo was awarded this prize after his paper titled "A Study on Discovering Technology Convergence Opportunities among Technology Topics - Focusing on Wearable Technology Cases" was selected as the Best Paper in the Non-Law Section at the '2023 Intellectual Property Research Excellent Paper Awards Ceremony' held recently at the Intellectual Property Specialized Library of the Korea Intellectual Property Research Institute.
The Korea Intellectual Property Research Institute annually selects and awards one outstanding paper each in the Law and Non-Law sections from papers published in the Korea Research Foundation-registered journal, "Intellectual Property Research."
Professor Seowon Cheol's paper was recognized for clearly identifying the limitations of the conventional approach that analyzes technology convergence based on classification codes commonly used for patent classification, and for adopting an advanced research approach that explores technology convergence opportunities through text mining based on highly significant patent content, resulting in highly effective research outcomes.
Professor Seowon Cheol has been actively engaged in research and educational activities in fields such as Patent Intelligence, Technology Intelligence, Technology Opportunity Discovery, and R&D and Service R&D Management, achieving this award-winning accomplishment.
