Electroland announced on the 7th that its sales of the home appliance and mattress cleaning service, ‘Seonhan Cleaning,’ have increased amid the global ‘bedbug phobia.’
As a result of investigating the sales volume of home appliance cleaning services from November 1 to November 30, sales increased by 157% compared to the same period last year. Mattress cleaning service sales more than tripled during the same period.
It is analyzed that interest in personal hygiene has increased due to the nationwide appearance of bedbugs. Cleaning home appliances where bedbugs can hide deeply and managing mattresses can relatively easily eliminate bedbugs, leading to an increase in the use of professional cleaning services that individuals can take action on their own.
An Electroland official said, "Along with home appliance cleaning services, washing machines and dryers are being offered at up to 35% discount, and a ‘Bedbug Eradication Zone’ will be set up in stores to sell UV bedding cleaners and steam irons at special prices.”
Meanwhile, if bedbugs are found inside the house, vacuum them first, then use a steam iron to apply steam for more than 5 seconds near the bedbug location, followed by blowing hot air with a hairdryer for about 10 seconds. If the habitat is suspected to be near the bed, wash contaminated fabrics such as blankets in hot water at 60℃ or higher using a washing machine, and if there is a dryer, dry them with hot air for more than 30 minutes.
