On the 6th, a large-scale power outage occurred in Ulsan, affecting approximately 150,000 households.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held an emergency inspection meeting chaired by Minister Bang Beom-gyu regarding the Ulsan blackout in the afternoon and received a report on the outage situation from Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).
The blackout was caused by a malfunction at the Okdong Substation in Ulsan, resulting in power outages in 155,000 households in Nam-gu, Ulsan, and surrounding areas.
As of 5 p.m., KEPCO has restored 80% of the power supply.
Minister Bang instructed, "Since the power outage has caused significant inconvenience to the public, promptly provide guidance and support, thoroughly investigate and identify the cause, and prepare countermeasures."
At around 5 p.m. that day, a sudden power outage occurred in Nam-gu, Ulsan, and Ulju-gun areas, causing traffic signals to go out and trapping people in elevators, among other damages.
