Expectations for Steady City Administration
Busan City appointed Lee Jun-seung, former Director of the Digital Economy Innovation Office of Busan City, as the new Deputy Mayor of Busan, effective December 7. Lee currently serves as the Head of the Past Affairs Support Team at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The new Deputy Mayor Lee Jun-seung is a high-ranking official native to Busan who graduated from Busan High School and Seoul National University, passed the 36th Administrative Examination, and has continuously worked in Busan City government.
He has held positions such as Director of Public Transportation, Budget Officer, Director of the Talent Development Institute, Head of the Innovation Headquarters, and Director of the Transportation Bureau in Busan City. Notably, after being promoted to Grade 2, he served in key roles across city administration including Director of the Job and Economy Office, Director of the Urban Planning Office, Director of the Environmental Policy Office, and Director of the Digital Economy Office, demonstrating deep insight into regional issues.
Earlier this year, he moved to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as Head of the Past Affairs Support Team, and will return to Busan City government as Deputy Mayor effective December 7.
A city official stated, “We expect the new Deputy Mayor, a native of Busan with extensive experience working in the city government, to play a significant role in ensuring stable internal administration of city affairs.”
