Ajou University Signs Business Agreement with Uzbekistan Campus and ITCEN Group

Ajou University signed a business agreement with ICT company ITCEN Group to nurture ICT (Information and Communication Technology) professionals at its affiliated university established in Uzbekistan.

According to Ajou University on the 6th, the university signed the 'Ajou University·Tashkent Ajou University (AUT)·ITCEN Group Business Agreement' on the 4th at Yulgok Hall. Attendees included Choi Ki-joo, President of Ajou University, Han Ho, Director of the AUT Project Group, Kang Jin-mo, Chairman of ITCEN Group, and Kang Seung-woo, CEO of ITCEN Group, among other officials.

This agreement was prepared to provide a recruitment-linked program for AUT electronic engineering students who are about to graduate, ahead of the first graduating class of AUT established in Uzbekistan under the agreement between Ajou University and the Uzbekistan government.

ITCEN Group, supporting recruitment, was founded in 2005 by Chairman Kang, an Ajou University alumnus (Physics Department, Class of ’88), and is an ICT service specialist group with annual sales of approximately 3 trillion KRW.

The main contents of the agreement include ▲ joint research in programming and cloud fields and operation of internship and employment programs ▲ establishment of an industry-academia cooperation platform ▲ creation of a joint network to promote the exchange of the latest technologies and information ▲ exploration of additional cooperation measures.

According to the agreement, starting early next year, ITCEN Group plans to select about 10 students who have taken the AUT electronic engineering capstone design course (a field practice course where ITCEN Group proposes topics and participates in evaluations) as regular employees to work at the Korean subsidiaries of the group’s affiliates (such as Ssangyong Information & Communications). ITCEN Group supports recruitment for its group affiliates and plans to expand the hiring of outstanding AUT talent annually after establishing a local corporation in Uzbekistan in the long term.

Uzbek students hired through this agreement will receive various welfare benefits, including living expenses in Korea, holiday bonuses, communication fees, and health checkups. They are scheduled to start working at ITCEN Group affiliates from September 2024.

President Choi said, "I am grateful to ITCEN, an Ajou University alumnus company, for providing opportunities for Uzbek youth dreaming of overseas advancement to start their careers as engineers in Korea," and added, "We will do our best to support continuous ICT cooperation between Tashkent Ajou University and ITCEN Group."

Chairman Kang stated, "Seeing the achievements of ITCEN Group and Ajou University, which have achieved rapid growth in a short period, I will play a role in helping Uzbek youth grow with big dreams."
