On the 4th, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province held the ‘Hope 2024 Sharing Campaign Fundraising Day’ event at the county office’s main conference room.
The event, held under the slogan “Make Myself Valuable Through Donation! Make Uljin Valuable Through Donation!”, was attended by about 300 residents including Son Byeong-bok, Uljin County Governor, Jeong Dong-ui, Secretary-General of the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea, local organizations, and daycare children.
The total amount of donations collected by the day of the event reached approximately 192 million KRW, demonstrating the strong spirit of Uljin residents united through sharing despite the difficult economic situation.
During the first part of the event, commendations were presented to those who contributed to spreading the culture of donation, and a progress report on the Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign was given. In the second part, individuals and companies participated with donations such as 70 million KRW from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters, 20 million KRW from Jeongwoo Housing Construction, 10 million KRW from Uljin Jukbyeon Fisheries Cooperative, 10 million KRW from Uljin National Forest Management Social Cooperative, 10 million KRW from Uljin Agricultural Cooperative, 10 million KRW from Environmental Facility Management, and 10 million KRW from NH Nonghyup Uljin Branch. Institutions including Uljin Fire Station, Uljin Police Station, and Uljin County Forestry Cooperative also actively joined the fundraising.
Additionally, SK D&D (Uljin Hyeonjongsan Wind Power Plant) donated 160 boxes of ramen worth 5 million KRW, the Uljin Export Council contributed bottled water and snow crab products worth 15 million KRW, and the Uljin Saemaeul Association donated heating oil gift certificates worth 4 million KRW, allowing the warm sharing culture of Uljin to be felt even amid high inflation and economic difficulties.
Moreover, the Uljin Go-ui Bodum Sharing group’s daycare children performed a heartfelt congratulatory performance, the Uljin County Community Chest Sharing Volunteer Group carried out a volunteer activity of pinning the Community Chest emblem, the Uljin County Center for Independent Living of Severely Disabled Persons held a coffee sharing event, the Gyeongbuk Community Chest operated a food truck, and the Korean Women Farmers’ Uljin County Federation organized a Korean rice consumption promotion event, delivering rice cakes to donors and enriching the event with various charitable activities.
Governor Son Byeong-bok expressed, “I deeply thank all Uljin residents who always look forward to and participate in the sharing campaign that brings hope and warmth to neighbors in need,” adding, “Although the economy is difficult, I hope the temperature of love will rise to 100 degrees as residents deliver warmth to those in need.”
