A man in his 60s working at an airport construction site in Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, is under police investigation after causing a collision while driving under the influence and attempting to assault the driver of the other vehicle involved.
According to the Ulleung Police Station on the 6th, at around 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd, an SUV driven by Mr. A (69) collided with a vehicle parked on the shoulder of a road in Sadong-ri, Ulleung-eup, Ulleung-gun.

After the accident, Mr. A verbally abused and attempted to assault the driver of the damaged vehicle, Mr. B (51), who requested insurance processing. Mr. A threatened, saying, "Do you know who I am?" and "Just wait and see," before trying to assault him but was restrained by the police who arrived at the scene. It was found that Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration far exceeded the license cancellation limit of 0.08%.
The victim, Mr. B, said, "It was like a bolt from the blue; not only was my vehicle damaged, but I was also physically hurt and subjected to verbal abuse," adding, "If the responding officers had not intervened, the damage could have been much worse."
In response, the contractor responsible for the Ulleung Airport construction apologized, stating, "We are sorry for failing to properly manage and supervise the workers from our subcontractor."
A police official said, "We believe Mr. A caused the accident while returning to his lodging after drinking, and he is currently under investigation for violating the Special Act on the Settlement of Traffic Accidents, among other charges, as there was a victim."
