Gyeongnam Goseong-gun Public Health Center, "Do Not Smoke or Drink Alcohol at Year-End" Year-end ‘No Smoking and Moderate Drinking Campaign’

The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Promotion Institute have designated November each year as the 'Month for Preventing Alcohol-Related Harm' to raise awareness of proper drinking culture ahead of the year-end and New Year period, when various alcohol-related damages and accidents increase sharply.

Accordingly, since last month, the public health center has been conducting a 'Visiting Moderate Drinking Campaign' targeting workplaces in the region and is promoting focused publicity through banners displayed on administrative bulletin boards in towns and townships.

In particular, this year, with year-end and New Year gatherings expected to increase after a decline due to COVID-19, the county plans to continue its promotional activities until the end of the year.

Additionally, through this 'No Smoking and Moderate Drinking Campaign,' the county aims to create a pleasant smoke-free environment and spread a desirable smoking cessation culture. Given that alcohol-related harms such as drunk driving and alcohol-induced violence have recently emerged as serious social issues, the campaign plans to expand social consensus on the necessity of a healthy drinking culture.

Shim Yoon-kyung, director of the public health center, stated, "We will do our best to contribute to forming healthy lifestyle habits by creating various programs and actively promoting the spread of moderate drinking and smoking cessation cultures in daily life."

If you have any questions related to smoking cessation or moderate drinking, please contact the Health Promotion Department at the Goseong-gun Public Health Center.
