Held a Meeting at Chosun University Hospital... Listening to Opinions and Offering Encouragement
Choi Jong-gyun, Deputy Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), visited Chosun University Hospital (Hospital Director Kim Kyung-jong) to listen to and discuss on-site opinions regarding the establishment of an infectious disease specialized hospital in the Honam region.
According to Chosun University Hospital on the 6th, Deputy Director Choi’s visit was made to encourage Chosun University Hospital, which is doing its best to operate nationally designated inpatient treatment beds for constant infectious disease response and to establish an infectious disease specialized hospital in the Honam region.
The meeting was attended by about 30 people, including Choi Jong-gyun, Deputy Director of KDCA, Kim Kyung-jong, Director of Chosun University Hospital, Jeong Dong-ryong, Director of the Infectious Disease Crisis Response Bureau at KDCA, Park Ji-young, Director of Medical Response Support Division, as well as officials from the city hall and the hospital.
Following a presentation on the current status of Chosun University Hospital and a Q&A session, in-depth discussions were held regarding the establishment of the infectious disease specialized hospital.
After the meeting, the attendees toured the site, including ▲ nationally designated inpatient treatment beds ▲ negative pressure rooms ▲ the site for the establishment of the infectious disease specialized hospital.
Choi Jong-gyun, Deputy Director of KDCA, said, "I thank Chosun University Hospital for showing great interest and actively progressing in the activation of nationally designated inpatient treatment beds and the establishment of the infectious disease specialized hospital," adding, "Please continue to do your best so that local patients can receive safe treatment even in crisis situations."
Hospital Director Kim Kyung-jong said, "The infectious disease specialized hospital, scheduled for completion in 2025, is expected to greatly help effectively respond to new infectious disease crisis situations that may occur unexpectedly, like COVID-19," and added, "We will continue to do our best to create a safe medical environment centered on patients and prioritizing their needs."
Meanwhile, last month, Chosun University Hospital conducted a public-private joint simulation exercise for new infectious disease medical response in the Honam region as part of the ‘Regional Complete Medical Response System Establishment Project’ promoted by KDCA.
