"Changing Regional Tourism Trends Seeking Special Experiences"… Kim Seongjo, President of Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation, Special Lecture at Gumi University

Kim Seong-jo, President of the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation, gave a special lecture at Gumi University (President Lee Seung-hwan) on the 5th.


The special lecture, held in the on-campus audiovisual room for Gumi University students, was conducted under the theme "Homo Ludens, the Meaning of Tourism in a Leisurely Life and Changes in Tourism Trends."

In his keynote speech, President Kim introduced the book "Homo Ludens" by the world-renowned Israeli scholar Professor Yuval Harari and emphasized the need to foster and revitalize culture and tourism in Gyeongbuk.

President Kim stated, "'Homo Ludens' means 'playing human,' and a person who plays well is a happy person; therefore, the tourism industry is bound to develop faster than any other industry," emphasizing, "The strength of Gyeongbuk must be tourism."

He continued, "Tourism trends are changing from simply visiting standardized tourist sites to a high interest in regional tourism that pursues unique local cultures and special experiences," stressing, "Sustainable regional tourism development is important."


President Kim Seong-jo is a native of Gumi, Gyeongbuk. He was elected as a member of the 16th National Assembly in 2000 and served three terms as a member of the 17th and 18th National Assemblies. He has held positions such as the Policy Chairman of the Grand National Party, Chairman of the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee, and President of Korea National Sport University.
