Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will open a skating rink and sledding hill for the first time in three years since COVID-19 in 2020.
Seongnam City announced on the 6th that it will open the skating rink and sledding hill on the 16th, located by the Tancheon Stream in Yatap-dong (in front of Tancheon Sports Complex) and the outdoor parking lot of Seongnam Sports Complex. The skating rink will hold its opening ceremony at 11 a.m., and the sledding hill at 2 p.m.
Admission will be free on the opening day. Visitors can also enjoy events such as face painting, puffed rice snack tasting, balloon art, and sticker tattoos. Both sports facilities will be open daily for 58 days until February 11 next year.
On weekdays, the facilities operate six sessions per day, each lasting one hour, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. On Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, the operation is extended by one session until 8 p.m., totaling seven sessions.
The usage fee is 1,000 KRW per session, including rental fees for skates, sleds, helmets, and other equipment.
The Seongnam City skating rink by the Tancheon Stream in front of Tancheon Sports Complex covers an area of 2,000㎡ and features a general rink (16 m wide, 60 m long) and a children’s rink (16 m wide, 40 m long).
The sledding hill at the outdoor parking lot of Seongnam Sports Complex is divided into eight lanes with a general slope (13 m wide, 45 m long) and a children’s slope (13 m wide, 30 m long).
Both the skating rink and sledding hill are equipped with auxiliary facilities such as lounges, snack bars, medical rooms, rental rooms, and restrooms.
A Seongnam City official said, "After the early closure on February 2, 2020, due to COVID-19, we are operating the skating rink and sledding hill again after three years," adding, "We will deploy safety personnel throughout the facilities and strengthen inspections to ensure citizens can enjoy safe ice sports."
