Strengthening Support Staff to Guarantee Learning Rights for All Students and Protect Teachers' Educational Activities
2 Billion Won Support for 29 Elementary and Middle Schools in the Area...Project to Start in March Next Year
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) and Seongdong Gwangjin Office of Education (Superintendent Joo So-yeon) have signed a business agreement to strengthen auxiliary personnel to protect educational activities.
Recently, concerns have been growing due to students' disruptive behavior during classes. With the addition of indiscriminate malicious complaints, the need for auxiliary personnel to ensure smooth educational activities has been raised.
Accordingly, the district is promoting the "(tentative name) Educational Activity Support Coordinator Project" with the Seongdong Gwangjin Office of Education. The ultimate goal is to reinforce dedicated personnel to create conditions where teachers can focus on educational activities and guarantee the learning rights of all students.
According to the agreement, the Seongdong Gwangjin Office of Education will establish detailed plans regarding support for educational activity coordinators (auxiliary personnel). It will also conduct demand surveys on personnel placement and utilization plans targeting schools in the region.
Gwangjin-gu will provide the necessary educational expense subsidies. Approximately 200 million KRW will be invested in 29 elementary and middle schools located in the district, to be used as activity expenses for auxiliary personnel at each school.
The project will start in March next year. The assigned "coordinators" at schools will perform tasks such as ▲ managing students who disrupt classes ▲ providing basic academic support to students requiring learning assistance ▲ supporting educational activities for special education students for inclusive education.
The agreement ceremony held at Gwangjin-gu Office on the 4th was attended by Mayor Kim Kyung-ho and Superintendent Joo So-yeon, among others. Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, "To protect the rights of educational stakeholders such as learning rights, we communicated and prepared cooperation measures with the Seongdong Gwangjin Office of Education," adding, "We will do our best to create an educational environment where both teachers and students can focus on their original roles."
