Changwon Special City "Future Strategy Industry Bureau's Core Achievement is the Completion of the 50-Year Future Plan"

Mayor Hong Nampyo: "Laying the Foundation for Changwon Industry's New Leap"

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam shared the outstanding achievements of the Future Strategy Industry Bureau for this year and prepared concrete plans to realize the goal of the "50-Year Great Transformation of Changwon Industry's Future" in 2024.

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, is explaining at the Changwon National Industrial Complex Future 50 Years Grand Design Seminar on June 29.

As the policy direction for 2023, the Future Strategy Industry Bureau determined that proactive measures are necessary to respond to defense industry demand, foster the nuclear power industry, recover the competitiveness of the stagnant main industries, and preemptively address future new industries. Accordingly, they established a growth-oriented industrial strategy for medical and bio sectors, manufacturing digital transformation, and government project responses, focusing on creating innovative clusters.

As a result, achievements include ▲selection of Changwon Defense and Nuclear Convergence National Industrial Complex candidate site ▲selection for the AI and Big Data-based Medical and Bio Advanced Equipment Research and Manufacturing Center project ▲commencement of design for the 50th anniversary of Changwon National Industrial Complex designation and the next 50 years ▲pioneering global markets for K-defense overseas expansion ▲acceleration of manufacturing digital transformation (DX) in Changwon National Industrial Complex.

In particular, the newly planned 2024 project, the "Manufacturing DX Support Center Construction Project," is expected to strongly promote digital manufacturing innovation for small and medium-sized manufacturers through infrastructure development, design and support of an end-to-end support platform, and establishment and operation of a DX campus.

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “The core achievements of the Future Strategy Industry Bureau in 2023 laid the foundation for the re-leap of Changwon industry for the next 50 years by being selected as a new national industrial complex candidate site.” He added, “In 2024, we will focus on passing the preliminary feasibility study for the new national industrial complex and promoting the 50th anniversary project of Changwon National Industrial Complex designation.”
