Medical Quality Improvement Best Practices Presentation Meeting Held

Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital is actively working to spread a culture of patient safety and practice customer satisfaction.


Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital recently announced on the 5th that it held the 19th QI (Quality Improvement) Best Practice Presentation Meeting, chaired by Jeong Seung-il, Director of the Medical Quality Management Office.

QI activities are improvement efforts aimed at enhancing the overall quality of medical services, including patient safety and customer satisfaction.


The Grand Prize in the oral presentation category was awarded to the Department of Laboratory Medicine for "Improvement of Frequently Asked Questions Related to Specimen Testing in Wards and Enhancement of Staff Satisfaction."


The Excellence Award went to the Medical Cooperation Center for "Improvement Activities to Activate First-Visit Patients," and Ward 61 for "Standardization of Work Protocols for Endocrine Surgery Chemotherapy and Improvement of Nurse Job Satisfaction through Education."


The Encouragement Award was given to the Nutrition Team for "Improving Work Efficiency through the Enhancement of Nutrition Counseling and Education Processes for Cancer Patients," the Central Operating Room for "Prevention Activities for Surgical Patient Skin Integrity Damage," and the Anesthesia Management Room for "Medication Error Prevention Activities Using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)."


The Medical Quality Management Office produced posters to share the best QI activity cases, held a poster certification photo event, and a poster award ceremony. The Grand Prize in the poster category was awarded to the Palliative Care Ward for presenting "Improvement of Job Satisfaction through Strengthening Practical Competence of Hospice Palliative Care Team Members." Nine other departments received Excellence and Encouragement Awards.


At this reporting meeting, five departments, including the Central Injection Room, which worked to detect potential errors early to prevent safety accidents and improve patient safety and medical quality, were also awarded as outstanding departments for "Near Miss Reporting."


Additionally, under the moderation of Jeong Jae-wook, Deputy Director of the Medical Quality Management Office, and Lee Kyung-ok, Manager, a segment called "The Quiz Live QPS," where participants solved quizzes on medical quality improvement and patient safety on-site, was held.


Jeong Seung-il, Director of the Medical Quality Management Office, said, "Our hospital operates various programs to promote understanding of the concept of patient safety and spread its culture. We will continue to carry out quality improvement activities aimed at enhancing the overall quality of medical services, including patient safety, customer satisfaction, infection control, and work processes."
