Commendation and Scholarship Award Ceremony for Meritorious Persons, Harmony and Leap Forward Event
On the 5th at 6:30 PM, Ulsan City will hold the 2023 Ulsan Tourism Day event at the Ulsan Lotte Hotel, attended by about 200 people including Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom and officials from the Tourism Association.
Marking the 50th Tourism Day, this event organized by the Ulsan City Tourism Association is designed to encourage tourism industry stakeholders who have overcome difficult times due to COVID-19 in recent years, and to foster unity among local tourism professionals while committing to leap forward as a tourism city.
The event will proceed with awards for meritorious service, scholarship certificate presentations, commemorative photos, and a day of unity activities.
In the awards for meritorious service, a total of 16 people will be honored, including 3 by the Ulsan Mayor, 1 by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 4 by the Chairperson of the Ulsan Metropolitan Council, 2 by the President of the Korea Tourism Organization, 3 by the President of the Korea Tourism Association Central Council, and 3 by the President of the Ulsan Metropolitan City Tourism Association.
Scholarship certificates will be awarded by the Korea Tourism Scholarship Foundation to three children (students) of local tourism industry workers to support the long-term development of the tourism business through discovering and nurturing talent in the tourism sector.
Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, “As of September this year, the number of visitors to major tourist sites reached 5.46 million, achieving the best results ever, thanks to the strength and efforts of the local tourism industry that overcame the difficult times of COVID-19,” adding, “Ulsan City and the tourism industry must come together with wisdom for the future of Ulsan as a tourism city.”
