2 Locations Including Yongin Fire Station Entrance and Mabuk Samgeori

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 5th that it plans to install rear-facing unmanned traffic enforcement cameras at two intersections within the city to prevent traffic accidents caused by traffic violations of two-wheeled vehicles, and will operate them starting from the end of next year.

The locations where the rear enforcement cameras were installed are the intersection at the entrance of Yongin Fire Station in Yeokbuk-dong, Cheoin-gu (Myeongji Intersection → Myeongji University Entrance Intersection) and Mabuk Samgeori in Mabuk-dong, Giheung-gu (Bojung Station → Guseong Intersection).

The rear enforcement cameras can capture the license plates on the rear of vehicles, enabling the enforcement of traffic violations not only for passenger cars but also for two-wheeled vehicles that do not have front license plates.

These cameras will undergo acceptance inspections and functional tests by the Road Traffic Authority and the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency for one year and are scheduled to be fully operational by the end of next year.

A city official stated, "Some two-wheeled vehicle drivers have been speeding while ignoring traffic regulations, which is why we installed rear enforcement cameras," adding, "We plan to gradually expand the installation of rear enforcement cameras in areas with frequent two-wheeled vehicle accidents in close cooperation with the local police station."
