Hanwha Aerospace is expanding its market presence in the Middle East and Africa, where security demand is increasing due to geopolitical crises.
Hanwha Aerospace announced that it will participate in the 'Egypt Defense Exhibition (EDEX 2023)' held in Cairo, Egypt, from the 4th to the 7th, by setting up a large exhibition hall of 300m² in the center of the exhibition hall.

They will showcase a self-propelled artillery package consisting of the K9 self-propelled howitzer and the K10 ammunition resupply vehicle. In addition, they will exhibit the Redback, a future infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), along with tactical guided missiles such as Cheongeom and multiple rocket launcher Cheonmu, which are of great interest in the Middle East region.
They plan to emphasize providing advanced defense solutions based on future technologies, localized to fit regional characteristics.
Amid growing global demand for ammunition and shells, they will also introduce the 155mm Modular Charge System (MCS). The MCS, a cylindrical modular propellant charge, is loaded behind the warhead and is a key ammunition component that propels the warhead out of the barrel to a designated range by explosive force.
Key countries in the Middle East and Africa, expected to visit the exhibition hall, have high interest in advanced weapon systems including self-propelled artillery. Interest from neighboring countries has also increased as they confirmed the successful execution of the 2 trillion KRW ‘self-propelled artillery package’ contract Hanwha Aerospace signed with Egypt.
A Hanwha Aerospace official said, "Through the successful contract execution with Egypt, we have secured the technology and trust of K-defense in the Middle East region," adding, "We will become a leading Korean defense company contributing to peace and security in the region based on cutting-edge technology."
Meanwhile, on the 4th, Hanwha Aerospace signed a ‘second execution contract’ worth approximately 3.4758 trillion KRW (about 2.6 billion USD) with the Polish Armaments Group for additional exports of K9 self-propelled howitzers and others.
