Consulting to Achieve Both Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Public Utility Cost Savings for Small Businesses like Cafes and Restaurants... Training Local Residents as Consultants to Become Environmental Leaders in Our Neighborhood
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will conduct carbon neutrality consulting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions targeting cafes, restaurants, and other local businesses.
The carbon neutrality consulting focuses on small-scale businesses such as cafes, restaurants, convenience stores, laundries, and hair salons, where greenhouse gas emissions are highest in the energy sector and reduction effects can be relatively quickly realized. When a business applies for consulting, a 'carbon neutrality consultant' visits the site to assess the greenhouse gas emission status and provides reduction methods tailored to the characteristics of each business.
The carbon neutrality consulting helps reduce greenhouse gases and also aids in lowering household operating costs during times of high inflation. Businesses wishing to participate can apply by the 8th of this month through the Seongdong-gu Office website or by contacting the Seongdong-gu Clean Environment Division.
Seongdong-gu's carbon neutrality consultants are composed of local residents interested in the environmental field to foster regional environmental leaders, and they have completed various training programs to acquire basic knowledge about carbon neutrality and greenhouse gas reduction.
Meanwhile, the district is promoting the 'Seongdong-type Regional Win-Win Carbon Neutrality Point System' to encourage saving energy and resources in daily life and switching to green products. This system provides incentives based on achievements in practicing greenhouse gas reduction despite inconveniences in daily life, with individuals eligible for up to 50,000 KRW and small businesses up to 100,000 KRW.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “As the era of global warming ends and the era of a boiling Earth begins, it is now essential to actively participate in the trend of 'carbon neutrality.' We will make multifaceted efforts to spread a culture of practicing carbon-neutral green living involving all sectors of society.”
