Pukyong National University Hosts 'National Public and National University Presidents' Council' Meeting

On the afternoon of the 30th, Pukyong National University held the "2023 4th National Conference of Presidents of National and Public Universities" at the Multipurpose Hall on the 3rd floor of Engineering Building 1.

Hosted by the National Conference of Presidents of National and Public Universities and organized by Pukyong National University, the event was attended by presidents of 32 national and public universities nationwide, as well as officials from the Ministry of Education and the Korea Council for University Education.

The National Conference of Presidents of National and Public Universities is a consultative body consisting of presidents from 40 national and public universities across the country, aimed at discussing policy issues related to national and public universities, proposing major university policies, and contributing to university development through mutual exchange and cooperation among universities.

During the conference, a dialogue with the Ministry of Education was held under the theme "Regulatory Improvement Measures to Support Autonomous Innovation of National and Public Universities," discussing agenda items such as allowing transfer admissions for mid-term dropouts from teacher training colleges, permitting joint bachelor's and master's degree programs with overseas universities, and recommending candidates for executive positions in the Korea Council for University Education.

Following the meeting, attendees also participated in tours and cultural events, including visits to Pukyong National University's smart bio-sports facilities such as the Water Leisure Center and other marine specialization facilities.

Jang Young-su, President of Pukyong National University, stated, "We expect that this conference will deepen discussions on the pressing issues faced by national and public universities nationwide and expand cooperation and communication to find ways to innovate universities and advance higher education."

Earlier that morning, the "2023 4th National Conference of Presidents of National and Public Universities Centered on the Nation," attended by presidents of 15 out of 19 nationally focused national and public universities, was also held at Dongwon Jangbo Hall of Pukyong National University.
