A passenger car that hit a baby elephant in Malaysia was subjected to a ‘retaliatory’ attack by adult elephants.

At the time, the vehicle was carrying a family of three: the driver, a 48-year-old man named A, his spouse, and their son. It was drizzling and foggy, making it difficult to secure a clear view ahead.

As Mr. A turned the steering wheel along a curve, he felt a dull sound and a heavy impact. He had hit a baby elephant that he had not seen in time. Moreover, five adult elephants, seeing the baby elephant screaming and tumbling on the road, charged toward Mr. A’s vehicle.

The herd trampled various parts of Mr. A’s car. Photos of the vehicle released show the front bumper and both doors were completely dented. The elephants reportedly left the scene together after the fallen baby elephant got back up.

The police did not specify whether the family of three remained inside the car during the incident but confirmed that there were no fatalities or serious injuries. The condition of the baby elephant has not been disclosed.

Previously, in 2020, on a Malaysian highway, an elephant agitated by car horns stomped on a passenger car, and five occupants barely escaped. At that time, a car stopped upon spotting an elephant standing in the middle of the road. When cars behind honked their horns, the elephant became agitated and placed its leg on the stopped car, stepping on it.

The five occupants inside the car immediately opened the doors and escaped outside. Since the car was damaged, they left the scene by getting into another vehicle.
