A man in his 60s, accused of excessive approach behavior (stalking) claiming to be the biological father of 14-year-old trot singer Oh Yujin, has been brought to trial.
The Criminal Division 2 of the Jinju Branch of the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office in Gyeongnam announced on the 30th that Mr. A was indicted without detention on charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act and other offenses.
According to the prosecution, Mr. A is accused of visiting the school attended by Oh Yujin from May of this year until recently, claiming she is his daughter.
He also repeatedly called Oh’s maternal grandmother demanding meetings and posted about 50 to 60 comments on social networking services (SNS) and other internet platforms, including questions like “Where are the biological parents?”
Earlier, Oh’s agency filed a complaint against Mr. A with the Mapo Police Station of the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office in August, and the Jinju Police, who took over the case, recognized Mr. A’s charges and referred him to the prosecution.
The prosecution, anticipating that Mr. A might commit the crime again, issued a provisional order to prevent him from approaching the victim.
Born in 2009, Oh Yujin is currently a second-year middle school student and has gained recognition by appearing on KBS 2TV’s entertainment program ‘Trot National Competition’ and others.
