On the 30th, the prosecution launched a forced investigation into Jang Jeong-seok, former general manager of the professional baseball team KIA Tigers, who is suspected of demanding bribes during negotiations with a player.
The Major Crimes Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Il-gyu) sent prosecutors and investigators to Jang's residence and other locations for a search and seizure operation that morning.
Jang is suspected of demanding money during negotiations last year with catcher Park Dong-won (currently with the LG Twins). After the allegations surfaced, the KIA team dismissed Jang, and the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) requested an investigation by the prosecution in April.
